Efficient Parenting – Lesson Plans Page 112 /170 Review the Materials Before participating in the group discussion, please ensure that you have carefully reviewed the interactive lesson and guides provided in Topic 7 of Module 3. These resources will help you understand third-party apps and websites, their potential risks, and best practices for managing them. Familiarizing yourself with these materials will enhance your contribution to the discussion and help you apply the concepts in practical situations. Discussion Prompt Reflect on your experiences with third-party apps and websites. In the discussion forum, share an example of a third-party app or website you or your children use regularly (e.g., social media apps, shopping platforms, or gaming apps). Address the following points: • How do you or your family interact with these apps/websites? • What privacy concerns or risks have you encountered (e.g., data sharing, security vulnerabilities)? • What steps have you taken to manage these risks (e.g., reviewing permissions, using parental controls)? Participate in the Group Discussion Respond to the prompt by creating a post in the group discussion forum. After posting your example, read and respond to at least two other participants' posts. In your responses, offer insights, ask questions, or share additional strategies for managing third- party apps and websites. Focus on fostering a respectful and collaborative learning environment, where different perspectives and experiences are valued. Reflect and Apply After the group discussion, reflect on the strategies shared by your peers. Identify at least two new strategies or practices you can implement in your own use of third- party apps to enhance your family’s privacy and security. Expected Outcomes By the end of the discussion, participants should: • Gain a clearer understanding of how third-party apps and websites operate and the risks associated with them. • Learn from peers’ experiences and strategies to manage privacy and security concerns. • Feel more confident in applying best practices for managing third-party apps in their daily lives.
