Efficient Parenting – Lesson Plans Page 127 /170 Activity 2 ICEBREAKER AND GROUP INFORMATION |10 MIN Objective: This helps participants feel more comfortable sharing in a group by engaging them in a fun and simple activity that emphasizes the importance of distinguishing Truths from lies. Participants listen to instructions and perform the activity. Materials needed: (optional: bills of paper and pens for participants to write down their statements). 1. Introduction Start by explaining the rules of the game Everyone thinks of three statements about themselves - two that are true and one that is a lie. 2. Activity Steps: • Step 1: Give participants a few minutes to think of their three statements. Encourage them to be creative, but keep their statements short and interesting. If necessary, they can write them down on a bill. • Step 2: Begin with one participant sharing their three statements with the group. The goal for the other participants is to guess which of the three statements is the lie. • Step 3: After everyone has guessed, the participant reveals which statement was false and gives a brief explanation if desired. 3. Discussion Prompt: After everyone has shared their statements, encourage a brief discussion about why the group thought certain statements were true or false. This can lead to a conversation about how easily people can be misled or make assumptions, which ties in with the theme of misinformation and disinformation.
