Emphasize the importance of checking facts, verifying sources and thinking critically before accepting information as true. Encourage your child to further develop their skills as a news consumer in their daily interactions with the media. Activity 2/3 I REVIEW FAKE NEWS ARTICLES | 10 MIN Objective : The purpose of this game is to teach children how to recognize fake news by challenging them to critically analyze 2 fictional articles. After reading the articles, they answer questions that help them assess the credibility of the story, teaching them important media literacy skills such as sensation recognition, questioning sources and verifying facts. The goal of the game is to make children more aware of how to recognize false information and become more critical readers. The parent and child read the articles together and answer the questions. Scenario Start by reading the article, followed by the questions Read the questions aloud and re-read the article if necessary Emphasize the importance of checking facts, verifying sources and thinking critically before taking information for true Encourage your child to further develop his skills as a news investigator in everyday interactions with the media With the 'back' button, (the arrow in the upper right corner) you can go back to the previous page to read the article again. Evaluation : Through this exercise, the child learns to critically evaluate news articles by questioning their credibility. They learn how to recognize fake news by evaluating the source, author, facts and overall logic of the story. The child becomes more aware of sensationalism, prejudice and the importance of checking information, ultimately becoming a more critical and responsible media consumer.
